The Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research (IGD) in Rostock is a technology developer in the field of peatland and paludiculture management. We develop digital solutions to address the challenges associated with the transition to wetland farming and successful paludiculture. To this end, we collect environmental and agricultural data, analyze it using scientific methods, and develop holistic solutions that provide insights for the management of your agricultural land.
Our core competency is visual computing—the integration of image processing, sensor technology, geoinformatics, 3D modeling, artificial intelligence, and interactive visualization. By combining these methods, we can automatically capture and analyze information on vegetation, biomass, quality, greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity, and changes in peatland ecosystems. These techniques can be applied to the scientific and economic monitoring of peatlands and paludiculture, as well as in the context of biomass hubs, the Palu Directive, supply chains, certifications, and life cycle assessments.
