ANK NABO – Federal funding scheme
Through the Action Programme for Natural Climate Protection (ANK), the German government has set itself the goal of significantly improving the overall condition and resilience of ecosystems in Germany, thereby strengthening its climate protection efforts and making a lasting contribution to climate protection.
Site-specific and sustainable soil management ensures that natural soil functions are preserved, promotes soil biodiversity and makes an important contribution to natural climate protection.
Since 22 July 2024, the Landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN), has been offering grants for investments in farming practices that are particularly environmentally and climate-friendly.

ANK Palu – Federal funding scheme
On behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN), the Landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank offers funding for the rewetting of peatland areas. The Palu funding scheme is part of the German government’s Action Programme for Natural Climate Protection (ANK). It offers a comprehensive range of funding for the permanent and extensive rewetting of agricultural and forestry peat soils and the subsequent adapted management of these areas.
- The funding is aimed at all stakeholders working together to ensure the success of rewetting initiatives: landowners, farmers, water and soil conservation associations, local authorities and commercial enterprises.
- Funding is available for both small-scale projects covering 5 hectares or more and large-scale, exemplary projects aimed at transforming entire peatland regions (flagship regions).
The grant offers:
- financial support for the transition to wet farming
- new sources of income through innovative paludiculture and products
The rewetting measures are voluntary.

Climate and peatland conservation – investiv – Funding scheme in Brandenburg
The ‘Climate/Wetland Protection – Investment’ scheme supports measures in Brandenburg to transition the use of organic and hydromorphic soils to climate-friendly, peatland-conserving management practices. The funding programme is financed by the Future Investment Fund and is intended to provide sustainable impetus for resource- and climate-friendly agriculture that secures livelihoods in the long term.
